“CINTURÓN BLANCO” de JORGE DREXLER, o cómo volver a empezar
Adelanto del nuevo álbum Tinta y Tiempo
MIAMI (25 de marzo de 2022) – “Cinturón Blanco“, el single de adelanto de Tinta y Tiempo, llega para adentrarnos en el nuevo universo al que Jorge Drexler nos llevará a partir del 22 de abril. Un universo construido desde la dificultad y la incertidumbre de los meses más duros de la pandemia y el confinamiento, pero en el que, como un revulsivo, nos transporta a un imaginario luminoso y lleno de esperanzas.
Un disco que, según el propio Jorge, ha sido “el más difícil de su carrera”. Entre otras causas, porque la reclusión domiciliaria privó a artistas como él de la oportunidad de testar sus creaciones con otros: “Descubrí que no se escribe solo. Que hasta que no compartes con otra persona, no eres capaz de medir la naturaleza de lo que has compuesto”.
Y en parte de eso trata “Cinturón Blanco“, la canción que Drexler presenta hoy. De rebobinar, volver al punto de partida, reiniciarse. “Cinturón Blanco“, que es una canción de amor, está basada -según el propio Drexler– en una historia que le contaron acerca de una escuela de artes marciales, en la que el aprendiz comienza aprendiendo todo con el cinturón básico, el blanco. Tras años de práctica y estudio, llega a la maestría técnica y recibe el cinturón negro. Sin embargo, una vez conseguido el grado máximo, vuelve a recibir el cinturón blanco. Hay que desaprender todo nuestro bagaje para alcanzar la excelencia. Para, con nuestra sabiduría y carga, intentar volver a ser principiantes con un cinturón blanco, o como canta el uruguayo:
Rebobinar hasta aquel inicio,
hasta el mismo precipicio
por el que caímos juntos.
Para empezar tú y yo, de cero
como hace tanto, tanto…
hasta que nos den a los dos, de nuevo
el cinturón blanco.

Este tema llega acompañado de un videoclip dirigido por la talentosa Joana Colomar, colaboradora ya habitual del uruguayo y responsable también del acompañamiento visual de “Tocarte“. El clip es un desafío a la lógica del tiempo y el espacio, y cierra la historia que comenzó en el vídeo anterior. Con una delicada puesta en escena y una coreografía reflejo de este desaprender, de rebobinar al punto de partida para comenzar una nueva etapa que anhelamos. La coreografía corre a cargo de Victoria P. Miranda, con Guillem Jiménez y Lucía Romero como protagonistas. La imagen de portada es de la fotógrafa Silvia Poch.
“Cinturón Blanco” sorprende desde el inicio por su musicalidad gracias a la presencia de la orquesta, con arreglos y dirección de Fernando Velázquez e interpretación por la ORCAM. Esta presencia será una constante en el álbum Tinta y Tiempo. Completa la parte musical la banda que acompañará a Drexler en su próxima gira de presentación.
Esta nueva etapa se hará oficial el próximo 22 de abril, cuando se publique Tinta y Tiempo, casi cinco años después de su aclamado Salvavidas de hielo (2017). Un álbum producido por Carles Campi Campón y el propio Drexler; y cargado de nombres propios y colaboraciones sorprendentes, como la ya conocida con C. Tangana, además del maestro Rubén Blades, la israelí Noga Erez y el uruguayo Martín Buscaglia, que generosamente ponen su talento al servicio de Tinta y Tiempo. Desde hoy está disponible la pre-venta del nuevo disco, a través de los canales de compra habituales. Además, ese mismo 22 de abril, comienza la gira de presentación de tan esperado trabajo.
Con Salvavidas de hielo (2017), Drexler ganó tres Latin GRAMMY®, y desde su publicación no ha permanecido ni mucho menos apartado de la música. Además de haber estado en gira, en este tiempo ha publicado “Nominao” y “Hong Kong” junto a C. Tangana, premiadas con sendos Latin GRAMMY® en 2021; “Vento Sardo“, con la brasileña Marisa Monte, o “La guerrilla de la concordia“, estrenada en julio del pasado año, una composición de espíritu colectivo que supuso el reverso de “Codo con codo“, la introspectiva canción que popularizó en tiempos de confinamiento.

Lead Single Off New Album Tinta Y Tiempo
MIAMI (March 25, 2022) – “Cinturón Blanco“, the lead single off Tinta y Tiempo, introduces us to the new universe that Jorge Drexler will be unveiling on April 22nd. A universe created out of the difficulty and uncertainty of the toughest pandemic and lockdown months, yet one in which, like a jolt, takes us to a radiant vision full of hope.
An album that, according to Jorge himself, was ” the most difficult in his career”. One of the reasons was that house lockdown deprived artists like him of the opportunity to test his creations with others: “I discovered that you can’t write alone. That until you share with another person, you are not able to measure the nature of what you have composed.“.
“Cinturón Blanco“, the song Drexler presents today, is partly about that. It is about rewinding, going back to the starting point, restarting. “Cinturón Blanco“, is a love song based -according to Drexler– on a story he was told about a martial arts school, where the apprentice starts learning with the first belt, the white one. After years of practice and study, he achieves technical mastery and receives a black belt. However, once he has reached the highest grade, he receives the white belt again. We have to unlearn all our previous knowledge in order to achieve excellence so that, through our wisdom and burden, we can try to go back to being beginners with a white belt, or as the Uruguayan sings:
Go back to the beginning,
to the very cliff
we fell down together.
To start you and me, from scratch
as it has been so, so long ago…
until we get, both of us, again
the white belt.

This song comes with a music video directed by the talented Joana Colomar, a regular collaborator of the Uruguayan and also in charge of the music video for “Tocarte“. The clip defies the logic of time and space and closes the story that began in the previous video, with a delicate staging and a choreography that reflects this unlearning, rewinding to the starting point to begin a new stage that we long for. The choreography was created by Victoria P. Miranda, starring Guillem Jiménez and Lucía Romero. The single cover is by photographer Silvia Poch.
“Cinturón Blanco” immediately surprises with its musicality due to the presence of the orchestra, with arrangements and conduction by Fernando Velázquez and performed by the ORCAM. This presence will constitute a regular feature on the album Tinta y Tiempo. The band joining Drexler on his upcoming tour also plays in the track.
This new stage will be made official next April 22, with the release of Tinta y Tiempo, almost five years after Drexler‘s acclaimed Salvavidas de hielo (2017). An album produced by Carles Campi Campón and Drexler himself and loaded with big names and surprising collaborations, such as the well-known collaboration with C. Tangana, as well as the maestro Rubén Blades, the Israeli Noga Erez and the Uruguayan Martín Buscaglia, all of whom generously contribute their talent to Tinta y Tiempo. Salvavidas de hielo (2017) won Drexler three Latin GRAMMY® and since then he has remained active and present in the music scene. In addition to touring, during this period he has released “Nominao” and “Hong Kong” with C. Tangana, both awarded Latin GRAMMY® Awards in 2021; “Vento Sardo“, with Brazilian Marisa Monte, or “La guerrilla de la concordia“, released in July last year, a composition of collective spirit that was the other side of “Codo con codo“, the introspective song he made popular during the lockdown.
