“Tenemos nuevo videoclip de ‘Maelström’. Un día veo en Instagram una película, en dibujos animados. Averiguo que este muchacho era Lonzo Meneghelli. Lonzo es músico y productor, y en pandemia se ocupó de ponerse a dibujar. Lo llamé por teléfono inmediatamente y a dos meses de aquella charla hizo algo sorprendente, muy emocionante. Ojalá lo disfruten tanto como lo disfruté yo cuando lo vi.”

Sobre la canción “Maelström”, Paez nos cuenta: “Aparece como una canción medio de Elton John, ligada a un hombre con problemas de pareja. La figura del Maelström viene de un cuento de Edgard Allan Poe, ´Un descenso al Maelström´, relacionado con una tormenta que se da en los fiordos de Noruega. La metáfora tiene que ver con que todos entramos al Maelström con una vida llena de quilombos y algunos tenemos la suerte de salir. Ojalá que la curiosidad por la palabra lleve a que descubran a un escritor como Poe”.

El próximo domingo 1 de noviembre desde el Movistar Arena de Buenos Aires, vamos a disfrutar de un verdadero show como los que nos tenía acostumbrados Fito: con escenografía de Adriana Maestri y puesta en escena de Max Rompo, Paez presentará oficialmente su último álbum de estudio, en lo que será su primer concierto con banda completa transmitido a todo el mundo en vivo vía streaming.

Cuando faltan pocas semanas para este gran show, el artista argentino recibió la hermosa noticia de que La Conquista del Espacio recibió 3 nominaciones en la 21º Entrega Anual del Latin GRAMMY®:
Álbum del Año: “La Conquista Del Espacio” – Mejor Álbum Pop/Rock: “La Conquista Del Espacio” – Mejor Canción Pop/Rock: “La Canción De Las Bestias”
Grabado en Capitol Studio (Hollywood), Ocean Way Nashville Studio (Nashville) e Igloo Music (Burbank), el álbum cuenta con nueve canciones inéditas, todas compuestas por Fito (excepto “Ey, You!”, en la que comparte la autoría con Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel).
La producción artística estuvo a cargo de Fito Paez, Diego Olivero y Gustavo Borner. Además de los músicos de su banda, Diego Olivero, Juani Agüero y Juan Absatz, el álbum cuenta con el retorno del histórico bajista Guillermo Vadalá (quien participó en nueve discos de Fito, entre ellos el multi-premiado El amor después del Amor y el reconocido baterista californiano Abraham Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney, Sting).
También hay grandes músicos invitados: Juanes, Lali, Ca7riel, Mateo Sujatovich, Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel, Franco Saglietti, María Campos y Nacho Godoy. La orquestación y dirección de la Nashville Music Scoring Orchestra fue realizada por Ezequiel Silverstein, con arreglos de cuerdas del propio Fito Paez. Con fotografías de Val & Musso, la dirección de arte y diseño es de Rompo & Pippa.

“We have a new music video titled ‘Maelström.’ One day I was watching an animated movie on Instagram and found out that it had been created by Lonzo Meneghelli. Lonzo is a musician and producer, and during the pandemic he started drawing. I immediately rang him up and within two months of that chat he had made something surprising and very thrilling. Speaking about the song “Maelström,” Paez notes: “It comes out kind of like a Elton John song, tied to a man in a troubled relationship. The title comes from Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, A Descent into the Maelström, about a storm that takes place in the Norwegian fjords. The metaphor deals with us falling into the Maelström with complicated, messy lives and how some of us are fortunate enough to survive it. I hope that the title helps listeners discover Poe.”

With just weeks remaining until this spectacular show, the Argentine legend received the gratifying news that he earned three nominations at the upcoming 21st annual Latin GRAMMYs®: Album of the Year and Best Pop/Rock Album for “La Conquista del Espacio”, and Best Pop/Rock Song for “La Canción de las Bestias.”
This album was recorded at Hollywood’s iconic Capitol Studios, Ocean Way Nashville Recording Studios and Igloo Music (Burbank). La Conquista del Espacio comprises nine new songs, eight of which are solely written by Fito, with “Ey, You!” co-written by Fito and Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel.
Production is handled by Fito Paez, Diego Olivero and Gustavo Borner. In addition to contributions from his touring band members of Diego Olivero, Juani Agüero and Juan Absatz, the album features the return of his former bass player Guillermo Vadalá, who played on nine of his albums, including the mythical El Amor Despúes Del Amor (1992). It also includes the renowned California-born drummer Abraham Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney, Sting).
Also collaborating on the album are standout guest musicians and vocalists such as: Juanes, Lali, Ca7riel, Mateo Sujatovich, Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel, Franco Saglietti, María Campos and Nacho Godoy. Orchestration and direction of Nashville Music Scoring is handled by Ezequiel Silberstein, with string-section arrangements provided by Fito himself. About Fito Paez:
One of Latin America’s all-time great singers, songwriters and musicians, Fito Paez is best-known for El Amor Después Del Amor (The Love After The Love, 1992), the best-selling album in Argentine rock history. For 36 years, he has performed on Latin America’s most sought-after stages and been acclaimed as one of his generation’s greatest musical minds.
He has written and directed three films: La Balada de Donna Helena, Vidas Privadas and De Quién Es El Portaligas.
