LOS RIVERA DESTINO lanzan otro sencillo y video muy creativo “EDGAR ALLAN POE”
MIAMI (27 de enero de 2022) – La banda puertorriqueña de música alternativa Los Rivera Destino nos sorprende otra vez con su canción inédita “Edgar Allan Poe”. El sencillo se encuentra disponible en todas las plataformas de música digital, y el video se puede disfrutar a través de su canal de YouTube.
Este grupo conformado por Antonio Sánchez, Carlos Figueroa y Fernando Tarrazo se consolida como uno de los más creativos de los últimos años con covers inesperados y música original que fusiona letra inteligente con arreglos que rompen barreras de género musical.
Su nuevo sencillo “Edgar Allan Poe” mezcla acid jazz con rap y melodías pegajosas para crear un sonido que desborda elegancia y calle. Fernando lo califica como “un viaje del ego. Cambia constantemente como una montaña rusa hasta que ni yo sé hacia dónde va. Creo que eso es lo que siempre hemos hecho. Experimentar con géneros y tonalidades, y ver qué sale”.
La letra narra la frustración de un soltero que parece tener todo, menos la atención de su amor platónico. En el video musical filmado en Guayabo, Puerto Rico, por el director Edgar Cruz, el protagonista tiene pretensiones más humildes, soñando ser salvado de una fotocopiadora hambrienta por su compañera de oficina. Este cortometraje es producido por Ismael Cancel, quien también funge como productor musical y co-autor de la canción con los miembros de la banda e Hiram Molina. Los visuales de nuevo muestran el característico sentido de humor de este trío que también resalta en sus recientes videos musicales “Mis Amigos”, “Castigo” junto a Pedro Capó y “Sin Ti”.
A la par con los brillantes arreglos del productor Cancel, Los Rivera Destino han creado una divertida excursión pos-tropical, y una expresión imprescindible de la nueva actitud puertorriqueña. Esta actitud tiene todo que ver con romper barreras e innovar, en lugar de encasillarse en etiquetas de género. “Creo que desde los inicios no estamos vinculados con ningún género”, dijo Antonio. “Lo vemos como un reto, pero también como una forma de trabajar. La fusión siempre ha sido el futuro, y eso es lo que vamos a seguir haciendo”.

Comprised of Antonio Sánchez, Carlos Figueroa and Fernando Tarrazo, Los Rivera Destino further their renown as one of the most creative groups in recent years, admired for their unusual covers as well as their original music, which fuses smart lyrics with genre-spanning musical arrangements.
Their new single “Edgar Allan Poe” mixes acid jazz with rap and catchy melodies to create a sound that’s both elegant and street. Fernando describes the song as “an ego trip. It changes constantly like a roller coaster that I don’t even know where the hell it’s going. I think that’s what we’ve always done. Experimenting with different genres and tonalities, that kind of thing happens.”
The lyrics narrate the frustration of a bachelor who seems to have it all, except for the attention of his crush. In the music video filmed in Guayabo, Puerto Rico, by the director Edgar Cruz, the protagonist has less lofty pretentions, simply dreaming of being rescued from a rogue copy machine by his attractive co-worker. This short film is produced by Ismael Cancel, who also serves as musical producer, as well as the co-writer of the song, along with the band members and Hiram Molina. The visuals yet again highlight the trio’s characteristic sense of humor that also shines through on their recent videos for their original songs “Mis Amigos,” “Castigo” with Pedro Capó, and “Sin Ti.”
When paired with Cancel’s sparkling production feel, Los Rivera have created a unique post-tropical joyride, and a vital expression of a new Puerto Rican attitude. That attitude has everything to do with breaking boundaries by refusing to be hemmed in by music categories. “I think from the beginning we’ve never been married to any genre,” Antonio said. “We see it as a challenge, but we also see it as a modus operandi. Fusion has always been the future, and it’s what we’re going to keep doing.”
