NATALIA LAFOURCADE comparte la gran fiesta de UN CANTO POR MÉXICO VOL. 2
Para celebrar la salida de su nuevo álbum, Natalia Lafourcade lanza el video de su nuevo sencillo “Nada es verdad” junto a Los Cojolites.
MIAMI (28 de mayo de 2021) – El día de hoy la cantante, productora y multiinstrumentista Natalia Lafourcade, lanza su nueva producción discográfica: Un Canto Por México, Vol. 2. Con este disco en beneficio de la reconstrucción del Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho, la compositora comparte once nuevas grabaciones que incluyen clásicos del cancionero mexicano y reversiones de su propia obra.
En las canciones de este gran álbum se incluyen inolvidables como el popurrí de “Alma mía / Tú me acostumbraste / Soledad y el mar” o la conmovedora versión acústica de “La Llorona”. Pero también encontramos en el disco una gran cantidad de invitados de primera: Pepe Aguilar (“Cien años”), Rubén Blades y Mare Advertencia (“Tú sí sabes quererme”), Aida Cuevas (“Luz de luna”), Mon Laferte (“La trenza/amor completo”), Carlos Rivera (“Recuérdame”), Silvana Estrada y Ely Guerra (“La Llorona”), Caetano Veloso (“Soy lo prohibido”), Jorge Drexler (“Para qué sufrir [versión acústica]”) y Los Cojolites, quienes acompañan a la cantante en el sencillo de salida “Nada es verdad”.
Para Natalia la música UCPM significa comunidad, unión de voluntades, trabajo en equipo, como puede verse en las colaboraciones y en la cantidad de músicos mexicanos de diferentes edades y regiones que se han sumado a sus compases. Es un árbol de la vida donde brotan emociones y acciones que enriquecen el panorama musical actual al tiempo que abrazan y acompañan corazones.
Este segundo volumen llega luego de que su primera parte le diera a la también productora su segundo GRAMMY®️ (Mejor álbum de regional mexicano), y dos Latin GRAMMY®️ (Mejor álbum del año y mejor canción de regional mexicano).

Esta canción tiene la fuerza de un volcán, en ella encontramos la voz adolorida y fracturada de gran parte de la humanidad, de nuestras comunidades, todo tipo de comunidades. En ella encontramos una parte que también es nuestra historia, una historia que duele en lo más profundo de nuestras raíces, que nos afecta, que nos fractura, que nos enferma, que nos rompe. De la cual formamos parte y que lamentablemente sigue repitiéndose. En esta canción cada palabra pesa, camina llena de marcha, valentía, fuerza, impunidad y protesta. Aquí se grita
Se escucha en la madrugada un estruendo del terror
Gente corriendo en las calles, lágrimas de terror
Debemos cambiar el rumbo, el sistema no sirvió
¡Nada… nada es verdad! todo es un sueño escrito por la sociedad.
Es una canción que como un terremoto nos sacude para despertar, abrir los ojos y ponernos a meditar tantito. Una canción para decir: ¡ya basta! busquemos otra forma de hacer las cosas porque claramente vivimos en los brazos de un sistema descompuesto en donde sigue faltando el equilibrio, sigue faltando el trabajo para poder vivir en respeto, armonía, libertad, plenitud y, sobre todo, en amor. Y, ¿dónde está la verdad? ¿cuál es esa verdad que podría salvarnos? Más en estos tiempos de tanta incertidumbre y tantos cambios.
Los Cojolites escribieron esta canción hace un tiempo, la inspiración tristemente viene de su propio contexto, un contexto afectado por la violencia, la pobreza, la desigualdad, el narco, problemas reflejo de un manejo disfuncional y disparejo. Ya sabemos de esto y no hace falta estancarnos en esta parte. La música entonces, con su particular poder de unir, sensibilizar, sanar, despertar conciencias, hacernos renacer y llenarnos de fuerza es que tiene la posibilidad de ayudarnos a recuperar la esperanza, la fe y las ganas de salir adelante.
Esta canción nace de una historia triste, pero es como una semilla del gran árbol de la vida donde sí podemos generar un cambio. El mensaje se volvió aún más poderoso, pues músicos y músicas llenaron de espíritu cada compás. En Nada es verdad podemos sentir la fuerza de la tierra, la naturaleza, los bosques, los ríos, las flores, los niños y las niñas, hombres, mujeres, chamanes y chamanas, la voz del fuego, de lo que sí es verdad tratando de recuperar su espacio.
Anoche estaba soñando una gran felicidad
Niños reían cantaban con amor a su mamá
Era en un tiempo lejano, no quería despertar
Son esas canciones que en algún punto te hacen decir: sí se puede, sí podemos encontrar la verdad que podría salvarnos como humanidad. Ahora esa verdad la podemos construir de nuevo, pero desde otra perspectiva y otra mentalidad.
Y qué importante es justamente trabajar en comunidad, levantarnos, mirarnos unos a otros y cuestionarlo todo una vez más. Pues la vida sería diferente si conectamos con la antigua sabiduría que podría ayudarnos a recuperar el respeto por la vida en toda su expresión, desde aquella vida que habita en nosotros, hasta la vida que podemos percibir en el mundo que habitamos.
Nada es verdad, es una canción que me inspiro a cambiar la verdad que me dijeron, la que vi en televisión, la que equivocadamente me creí alguna vez y comenzar a trabajar por una verdad más aterrizada, más sensible, más entrelazada con la de aquel o aquella que tengo cerquita de mí y finalmente comprender que soy parte de un todo en donde todos colaboramos de una u otra manera y podemos aportar de manera positiva a lo que sucede universalmente.
Ya había tenido el honor de interpretar esta canción junto a Los Cojolites y decidimos unirla al vol. 2 de Un canto por México pues este proyecto nos ha regalado la posibilidad de engrandecer una comunidad que ya existía. Hemos podido construir puentes entre mundos para un sólo fin compartido, hacer buena música que demuestre la fuerza de nuestras raíces y cultura al tiempo que, con el trabajo de personas maravillosas, hoy el Centro de documentación del son jarocho, sigue levantándose con la mano y fuerza de muchos. El objetivo final es que pronto pueda continuar con la labor comunitaria que ha hecho por más de veinticinco años. Ésta sí es nuestra verdad, la hemos construido con todo el amor, tiempo y energía para que ahora sean ustedes quienes disfruten del poder de la música.

Sobre Un canto por México :
Un canto por México es un proyecto musical benéfico que Natalia Lafourcade destina a distintas causas, en esta ocasión es en favor de la reconstrucción del Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho, que en 2017 se vio gravemente afectado. Además de contar con diferentes donantes y esfuerzos específicos, el pasado mes de noviembre bajo la bandera de este proyecto se realizó una presentación en vivo en el Auditorio nacional de la CDMX con un rotundo sold out que ofreció todas las ganancias a las obras de reconstrucción del CDSJ. Los discos Un canto por México volumen uno y dos son el resultado de la preparación en comunidad de la música de dicho concierto.
Acerca del Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho:
El Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho (CDSJ) es un recinto fundado por Ricardo Perry y los Cojolites hace más de 19 años. Desde entonces sirve para formar músicos, bailarines y para capacitar en la industria textil, la alfarería, el arte culinario y otros saberes del pueblo veracruzano. El CDSJ ha fortalecido el tejido social y ha preservado tradiciones de la comunidad, además de ser el único lugar en México donde se documenta lo relacionado al son jarocho. Durante los sismos de septiembre de 2017 el CDSJ se vio gravemente afectado y Natalia Lafourcade decidió apoyar su reconstrucción. Convocados por la artista, Nido Social A.C., el Fideicomiso Fuerza México, la fundación Pienza Sostenible y el Taller ADG, entre otros dieron juntos los primeros pasos en el proceso. Así nace “Juntos por CDSJ” (@juntos_cdsj), enfocado a unir voluntades, recaudar fondos y canalizar toda ayuda para la reconstrucción del centro y del hogar de las familias que vivían ahí.

To Celebrate The Release Of This LP, Natalia Lafourcade Premieres The Video Of Her Latest Single “Nada Es Verdad” With Los Cojolites
MIAMI (May 28, 2021) – Today, the acclaimed Mexican singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Natalia Lafourcade releases her album Un Canto Por México, Vol. 2. As the second volume of this project whose proceeds benefit the Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho (Educational Center of Son Jarocho) in Veracruz, it features 11 new recordings of Mexican-songbook classics and remakes of her own compositions.
Among the highlights of Un Canto Por México, Vol. 2, are the medley of “Alma Mía / Tú Me Acostumbraste / Soledad y el Mar” and Natalia’s moving acoustic version of the standard “La Llorona.” She is also joined by world-class guest artists, including Pepe Aguilar (“Cien Años”), Rubén Blades and Mare Advertencia (“Tú Sí Sabes Quererme”), Aida Cuevas (“Luz de Luna”), Mon Laferte (“La Trenza / Amor Completo”), Carlos Rivera (“Recuérdame”), Silvana Estrada and Ely Guerra (“La Llorona”), Caetano Veloso (“Soy lo Prohibido”), Jorge Drexler (“Para Qué Sufrir”, acoustic) and Los Cojolites, the Veracruz-based roots group that accompanies her on the focus track and music video “Nada es Verdad.”
For Natalia, the music of this album signifies community, shared purpose and team spirit. This is evident in the collaborations, as well as the generational and regional diversity of the Mexican musicians who have signed on to her concept. It’s a tree of life that produces feelings and actions that enrich the musical panorama while embracing and accompanying hearts.
The first volume of this album earned her the second GRAMMY® of her career, for Best Regional Mexican Album (2021), as well as two Latin GRAMMYs® – Album of the Year and Best Regional Mexican Song (2020).
Today, the festivities for a good cause continue with the release of Volume 2, and Natalia describes the project below in yet another of her eloquent and perceptive missives that are cherished by her fans:

This song has the force of a volcano, in it we find a pained and broken voice of a great part of humanity, of our communities – all types of communities. In it we find a part that is also our history, a history that hurts in the deepest of our roots, that affects us, that divides us, that breaks us. History of which we are a part and that unfortunately keeps repeating itself. In this song each word has weight, it presses on, full of bravery, strength, impunity and protest. Here is shouted:
A roar of terror is heard at dawn
People running in the street, tears of terror
We must change course, the system didn’t work
Nothing… nothing is true! Everything is a dream written by society
It is a song that like an earthquake shakes us to wake up, open our eyes and begin to meditate for a while. A song to say – No more! Let’s find another way of doing things, because obviously we live in the grip of a dysfunctional system that lacks stability, where people need work to be able to live in respect, harmony, freedom, prosperity and most of all, in love. And – where is the truth? Which is the truth that could save us? More so in these times of such uncertainty and so many changes.
Los Cojolites wrote this song a while ago, the inspiration sadly coming from their own context, a context affected by violence, poverty, inequality, drug trafficking – problems reflecting a system that is broken and disparately managed. We know this and we can’t allow it to make us stagnant. The music then, with its particular power to unite, humanize, cure and awaken, to renew us and fill us with strength, has the possibility to help us regain hope, faith and the will to move forward.
This song comes out of a sad history but it is like a seed of a great tree of life where we can surely make a change. The message became even more powerful, as the musicians filled each measure with spirit. In Nada es verdad we can feel the force of the earth, nature, the forests, the rivers, the flowers, the children, men, women, shamans, the voice of fire, all that which is true trying to regain its place.

Children laughing and singing with love to their mother
It was in a time far away, I didn’t want to wake up
These are the songs that at one point make you say: yes, it’s possible, yes, we can find the truth that could save humanity. Now we can build that truth again but from another perspective and another mentality.
And how important it is to work as a community, rise up, look at one another and question everything once more. Life would be different if we connected with the ancient wisdom that could help us recover respect for life in all its expression, from that life within us to the life we perceive in the world around us.
Nada es verdad, is a song that inspires me to change the truth that I’m told, that I see on the television, that mistakenly I believed once, and to begin to work for a truth that is more grounded, more perceptive, more interconnected with the truth of those around me, and finally understand that I am part of a whole where we all collaborate one way or another, and we can act in a positive way to what’s happening universally.
I already had the honor of interpreting this song together with Los Cojolites and we decided to add it to volume 2 of Un canto por Mexico because this project has given us the opportunity to widen the community that already existed. We’ve been able to build bridges between worlds for a shared goal, to make good music that shows the strength of our roots and culture, and as well, owing to the work of wonderful people, today the Educational Center of Son Jarocho continues to rise up with the labor and strength of many. The final objective is that soon the work of a community that has been going on for more than 25 years can continue. This is our truth, we have built it with all the love, time and energy so that it is now you who can enjoy the power of the music.

About Un Canto por México :
Un Canto por México is an umbrella project that Natalia Lafourcade has used to support various humanitarian efforts. Currently it is focused on the El Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho (The Educational Center of Son Jarocho, known by its Spanish initials CDSJ), which was severly damaged by the September 2017 earthquakes. Relying on a variety of donors and focused efforts, the project was furthered in November 2019 by Natalia’s sold-out, star-studded performance at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional, with all proceeds going to the reconstruction of CDSJ. Her albums Un Canto Por México Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are based on the music performed at that concert.
About El Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho:
El Centro de Documentación del Son Jarocho is a musical space in Jáltipan, Veracruz, founded by Ricardo Perry y Los Cojolites over 20 years ago. Since then, it has trained musicians and dancers, while also offering courses in textiles, pottery, culinary arts and other skills important to residents. The CDSJ has strengthened the social fabric and community traditions, as well as serving as Mexico’s sole repository for information about the area’s native son Jarocho musical style. In September 2017, the CDSJ was hit hard by a series of earthquakes, and Natalia Lafourcade stepped up to support its recovery. She teamed up with Nido Social A.C., Fideicomiso Fuerza México, Fundación Pienza Sostenible and Taller ADG, to create Juntos Por CDSJ (@juntos_cdsj), which recruits volunteers, raises funds and directs aid for the reconstruction of the center and the homes of families.
