The Latest Preview of Río Roma’s Upcoming EP ‘6 Canciones y 1 Tequila’ Is A Collaboration With One Of Regional Mexican Music’s Biggest Stars Of The Last Decade

MIAMI (October 22, 2021) – Today, Latin pop brother duo Río Roma releases “Por Ella Tomo,” the latest preview of their upcoming EP 6 Canciones y 1 Tequila. This track is a collaboration with the corrido icon Gerardo Ortíz.

José Luis Roma, co-founder of Río Roma, is thrilled to be joined by Gerardo Ortíz: “Ever since we put together our wish list for 6 Canciones y 1 Tequila, we were highly intrigued by the possibility of getting Gerardo Ortíz. We had met briefly at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City; we got along swimmingly and that’s why we are very happy that he accepted our invitation for the most cry-in-your-beer song that we have ever recorded.”

For his part, Gerardo Ortíz, who has been named by Billboard as one of the most successful charting artists of the past decade, never expected such a crossover: “Frankly, Río Roma flabbergasted me. I knew them for their pop songs, but they gave it their all on this fusion. I like to hear how their voices sing banda music. I didn’t expect to dig it so much, and I think it’s because they created great musical arrangements and because the song tells an interesting story.”

Turning to the song’s composition, José Luis notes with a chuckle: ‘Por Ella Tomo’ is a true story that Geovani Cabrera and I turned into a song. Río Roma always strives to record songs that you can identify with, and I think this story was just begging for a voice with Gerardo’s qualities.”

Gerardo agrees: “This song was meant to be sung with abandon. As José Luis points out, it’s about a bro who is proud to be suffering and sings it like it, without regret.”
