RUBÉN BLADES y CARLOS VIVES nos entregan un mensaje de aliento con su colaboración histórica “NO ESTÁS SOLO – CANCIÓN PARA LOS ENFERMOS”

MIAMI (10 de abril de 2020) – Dos leyendas de la música tropical lanzan su primera colaboración juntos y se suman a la lucha contra la pandemia de COVID-19. El cantante, compositor, actor y activista panameño Rubén Blades une fuerzas con el cantante, compositor y actor colombiano Carlos Vives para presentar el video de su sencillo “No estás solo – Canción para los enfermos”.
La canción y el video musical se estrenarán a las 1900hrs (hora de Panamá) este domingo 12 de abril durante el concierto “Panamá Solidario”, que se transmitirá en vivo de manera simultánea por las cadenas principales del país: TVN, Telemetro, Sertv y Nextv. “Panamá Solidario” es un plan de emergencia y asistencia social de alivio para los afectados por la pandemia, especialmente los panameños más vulnerables, aproximadamente 1 millón 350 mil familias. Los hashtags oficiales de esta campaña son #NoEstasSolo y #PanamaSolidario.
El audio y video también estarán disponibles en todas las plataformas de música digital y en YouTube a partir de las 2000hrs ET el mismo día.
“No estás solo – Canción para los enfermos” es de la autoría de los dos galardonados artistas, quienes mezclan sus respectivos géneros de salsa y vallenato a la perfección, mientras nos levantan el espíritu por medio de una letra muy personal y directa: “Nos dicen que estás enfermo y venimos para animarte, un malestar no es eterno y menos si se comparte. Y aunque interminable parezca la noche, al final se irá con la luz del día…”.
Sin embargo, este tema no fue escrito para la pandemia, pues surgió en una sesión de grabación que realizaron Carlos y Rubén hace aproximadamente siete meses en Nueva York: “Carlos gentilmente me invitó a formar parte de su álbum, en septiembre de 2019. Él tenía una canción y fui su invitado en ella. Pero le presenté la idea de la letra para la canción a los enfermos y él aceptó. Se grabó antes de la emergencia que vivimos. ¡Parece que fue hace años!”, afirma Rubén Blades.
Ante la campaña “Panamá Solidario“, los dos artistas decidieron que era el momento de lanzar la canción y dejar un mensaje de unión: “No estamos solos, ganaremos esta batalla contra el virus; tenemos que apoyarnos y trabajar juntos, que esto pasará”.
Rubén Blades, quien apoyará a la Fundación Anoland Díaz en Panamá con los ingresos de esta canción, recuerda a sus seguidores la importancia de tomar todas las medidas de precaución. Asegura que la mejor forma de ayudar en la situación actual es: “Quedándonos en la casa, ayudándonos mutuamente, cubriendo nuestra boca y nariz cuando necesitamos salir. Atendiendo las instrucciones de nuestras autoridades administrativas y de salud”.
Por su parte, Carlos Vives comenta: “Esta es una canción llena de amor que sale desde el corazón para nuestro pueblo hermano panameño. Me siento muy honrado de poder trabajar con el maestro Rubén Blades y de poner un granito de arena para contribuir a la causa de apoyo a la población vulnerable”. De hecho, Carlos Vives destinará los recursos que derive de la canción a la iniciativa Tras La Perla, que ha volcado sus esfuerzos a atender las necesidades básicas de los habitantes del barrio Pescaíto de la ciudad de Santa Marta en Colombia durante la emergencia causada por la pandemia. Cabe señalar que tanto el dinero de publicación y distribución serán donados al tratarse de una actividad sin fines de lucro.
También cabe destacar que el dinero recaudado por parte del publishing y los porcentajes de distribución, se estarán cediendo por ser un lanzamiento sin fines de lucro.
Con su aporte artístico y su participación en Panamá Solidario, Rubén Blades y Carlos Vives demuestran que la música es capaz de sanar y darnos esperanza.

MIAMI (April 10, 2020) – Two tropical-music legends are releasing their first duet together while joining the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Panamanian singer-songwriter, actor and activist Rubén Blades joins forces with the Colombian singer, songwriter and actor Carlos Vives to present the music video of their single “No Estás Solo – Canción Para Los Enfermos” (You Are Not Alone – Song For The Ailing).
The audio and video will debut at 7 p.m. Panama City time, this Sunday, April 12, as part of the Panamá Solidario concert, which will be simulcast by Panama’s main TV networks TVN, Telemetro, Sertv and Nextv. Panamá Solidario is the name of the country’s official pandemic emergency initiative that provides assistance for affected citizens and their families, especially the country’s 1.35 million households that are the most vulnerable. The official hashtags of this campaign are #NoEstasSolo and #PanamaSolidario.
The single and music video will also be released at 8 p.m. ET, April 12, on all digital-music outlets and on YouTube.
“No Estás Solo – Canción Para Los Enfermos” is written by the two award-winning artists, who deftly weave together their signature genres of salsa and vallenato, while lifting our spirits with lyrics that are personal and direct: “They tell us that you’re ailing and we came to cheer you up, no discomfort is eternal, even less so if it’s shared. And although the night might seem never-ending, in the end it will leave with the light of day…”
It is important to note that this song was not written in response to the pandemic, but came from a recording session that Carlos and Rubén worked on approximately seven months ago in New York City. “In September 2019, Carlos graciously invited me to be on his next album. He had a song and I was the guest artist. But I suggested writing lyrics for people who are ailing, and he agreed. It was recorded prior to the crisis we are now experiencing. It feels like years ago!” Rubén Blades observes.
With the emergence of Panamá Solidario, the two artists decided that this was the right time to release the song and communicate a message of unity: “We are not alone, we will win this battle against the virus; we have to support each other and work together – this will pass,” Blades adds.
Rubén Blades, who is donating his earnings from this song to Panamá’s Fundación Anoland Díaz, reminds his followers of the importance of taking all precautions. He points out that the best way to improve the current situation is by “staying at home, helping each other out, and covering our mouth and nose when we must go out. Also, by following the instructions of our administrative and health officials.”
For his part, Carlos Vives adds: “This is a song filled with love that comes from the heart for our beloved neighbors in Panamá. I feel very honored to work with the maestro Rubén Blades and do my part to support this worthy cause for those who are most vulnerable.”
In fact, Carlos Vives will donate his share of the song’s proceeds to the Tras La Perla initiative, which is providing social assistance during the pandemic by covering the basic necessities of residents of the Pescaíto barrio in his hometown of Santa Marta, Colombia. It should be noted that both, the publishing and distribution money will be donated as this is a is a non-profit activity.
