STRANGER THINGS LEIVA y ZAHARA
MIAMI (5 de noviembre de 2021) – Una fuerza extraña, un dolor enfermo, un sueño arrancando. “Stranger things” es el desgarrador testimonio del invierno hostil, la canción que Leiva comparte con Zahara en el tercer adelanto de su nuevo disco Cuando te muerdes el labio. La ubetense y el madrileño protagonizan esta caricia del desconsuelo, duelo a pelo sin escudos ni defensas, una de las primeras canciones que Leiva compuso para su nuevo trabajo. Un adherente medio tiempo de sobria congoja, musicado con refinada precisión, que toma su título de esa popular serie donde los peligros se desatan tras largo tiempo soterrados, una conexión evidente con el corpus anímico de la composición y por extensión de Cuando te muerdes el labio. En “Stranger things”, puesta al día de los sentimientos menos acomodaticios, Leiva recurre a su amiga y cómplice artística Zahara, uno de los mayores talentos del actual panorama español, que atesora una sólida y galardonada discografía en la que destaca una personalidad desbordante y una reseñable valentía vital. Ambos se conocen desde hace muchos años y la sintonía queda explícita tanto en la canción como en el videoclip, obra de la directora Claudia Barral (que ya dirigió “Mi pequeño Chernóbil” y “Solaris”), una minimalista y sentida pieza grabada en un estudio madrileño donde lo sencillo se torna emocionante a cada palabra de la canción. De la portada del single se ha encargado el equipo de Boa Mistura que, como siempre, aporta belleza, distinción y empaque al acabado. “Stranger things” fue grabada en Madrid el otoño pasado, y el propio Leiva ha sido el encargado de grabar todos los instrumentos que suenan en la canción: batería, bajo, guitarras, percusiones, etc. Junto a buena parte de las canciones de Cuando te muerdes el labio, el productor de “Stranger Things” ha sido Carlos Raya, la persona de máxima confianza de Leiva a la hora de entrar al estudio de grabación, con él ha trabajado en sus últimos cuatro discos, incluido el directo. La canción fue posteriormente masterizada por el prestigioso Stephen Marcussen, el fundador e ingeniero jefe de Marcussen Mastering en Hollywood, California. Cuando te muerdes el labio es una obra de 14 nuevas canciones donde Leiva colabora con 14 artistas a las que ha ido conociendo a lo largo de los años tanto en España como en Latinoamérica. Las canciones de este nuevo disco han sido compuestas exprofeso para cada una de ellas, un trabajo conceptual al que Leiva llevaba tiempo dando forma, una preciosa colección de colaboraciones de la que “Stranger things” es un nuevo adelanto.
El próximo 3 de diciembre verá la luz el trabajo completo, entre cuyos formatos se ha dado a conocer el de la edición más especial. Cuando te muerdes el labio edición coleccionista, es una obra en formato de porcelana, disponible exclusivamente en preventa en España y cuyas existencias, limitadas, numeradas, y con su certificado de autenticidad sellado por Boa Mistura, están prácticamente agotadas.

MIAMI (November 5, 2021) – A strange force, a sick pain, a dream torn away. “Stranger things” is the heart-wrenching testimony of hostile winters, the song where Leiva joins forces with Zahara and the third single released in advance of Cuando te muerdes el labio. The Úbeda-born singer and the artist from Madrid perform this caress of disconsolation, a duel with no shields or defenses, one of the first songs Leiva wrote for his new album. A sticky half-tempo tinged with a sober sorrow and set to music with refined accuracy, whose title has been taken from the popular series where dangers are unleashed after being buried for a long time, a clear connection with the emotional corpus of the composition and also the album Cuando te muerdes el labio.
On “Stranger things”, an update of our less accommodating feelings, Leiva recruits his friend and accomplice Zahara, one of the most talented artists in the Spanish scene, who has a solid and award-winning discography with an overflowing personality and a remarkable vital courage. They have been friends for years now and their connection was made explicit both on the song and the music video directed by Claudia Barral (who was also at the helm on the music videos for “Mi pequeño Chernóbil” and “Solaris“), a heartfelt minimalist piece shot in Madrid where we find that what is simple turns exciting with every word of the song. The Boa Mistura team designed the single cover, bringing beauty, elegance, and a fine presentation to the packaging once again.
“Stranger Things” was recorded last fall in Madrid, with Leiva himself in charge of recording all the instruments played on the song: drums bass, guitars, percussion, etc. The producer of the song, who also produced many of the songs featured on Cuando te muerdes el labio, was Carlos Raya, the man Leiva trusts the most in the recording studio and who was involved in the recording process of his last four albums, including a live album. The song was mastered by Stephen Marcussen –the founder and lead engineer of Marcussen Mastering– in Hollywood, California.
Cuando te muerdes el labio features 14 new songs where Leiva has recruited 14 female artist collaborators whom Leiva has met over the years both in Spain and Latin America. The songs on this album have been written specially for each of these artists, a concept album Leiva has been shaping for a long time, a beautiful collection of collaborations, with “Stranger Things” as the most recent release.
The album will be released on December 3rd, with a very special edition recently unveiled. Cuando te muerdes el labio Collector’s edition, will be released in a limited and numbered porcelain format (with an authenticity certificate by Boa Mistura), only available for pre-sale in Spain and now nearly sold-out.
