“RESUCITAR”  (Fito Paez)

Yo te lastimé

y vos me dejaste

Yo me equivoqué

y vos buscaste otro amanecer

uh! la luz del sol

te ciega y no deja ver nada

uh! la libertad

no sabe ni quiere esperar

vos, el amor

y yo, la traición

vos, nunca más

y yo me pego el pire en un avión

¿a dónde voy?

no sé dónde queda mañana

y entonces empezamos a nacer otra vez,

otra vez y otra vez

FITO PAEZ Presents “RESUCITAR” The First Single From His Upcoming Album

MIAMI (February 14, 2020) – On March 13, Argentine rock legend Fito Paez will celebrate his 57th birthday with the release of his 23rd album La Conquista Del Espacio, and a live showcase in Rosario, the city of his birth.

Its first single and video, available today from all digital-music outlets, is “Resucitar”. Paez notes that this song’s lyrics communicate a variety of feelings: “It’s a song that lays it on the line, where one member of a couple reveals a truth. This person dispenses with ambiguity and accepts, as often happens in our lives, the reality of what they feel, regardless of where it takes them. It also opens the possibility of moving forward. It’s a tough song, but always positive in this way – when I feel that I accept a hard truth, new strength can be found, or perhaps something akin to resignation. It’s about accepting that which is true. As the lyrics say, ‘One day the truth stops at the door of your house.’ I find that to be a beautiful phrase. There’s another line on the new album La Conquista Del Espacio that says, ‘The conquest of telling each other the truth.’ In other words, truth-telling always represents a conquest, in any aspect, whether it be in a relationship, politics, or social relations within the tribe. Truth is what makes us move forward. When we call things what they are, including our traumas or our dysfunctional habits, we always advance. Looking at it that way, ‘Resucitar’ is a very positive song.

Fito Paez goes on to discuss how “Resucitar” came together in the studio: “We laid down the rock instrumentation together in L.A.’s Capitol Studios, recording as a live band rather than tracking each part individually. We have Juani Agüero on guitar, Abe Laboriel on drums, Guille Vadalá on bass, and myself on piano. It is co-produced by Diego Olivero and the sound engineer Gustavo Borner. He came up with the distinctive intro, which wasn’t in the original score. In Colombia, Diego served as my tech as I worked out the orchestral parts using my keyboard. These were then recorded with the proper stringed instruments by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, which gives this song such a lovely, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.

Turning to the single’s music video, which Fito himself directed, he notes, “The idea for the video comes from an anonymous piece of Victorian silk-screen art, which portrays a man in a room listening to a woman playing the piano. We don’t know who the woman is, and the man sees a phantasmagorical presence, or a muse, or a memory. It’s an image that could have religious overtones as well. He perceives the woman as someone he has had a connection to, or who means something important to him, and it produces a kind of revelation. In my video, the man is portrayed by the actress Sofía Gala. She unexpectedly began crying during the filming, but it worked perfectly and we left it in. She is a great artist and a quick study. Camila Fabbri also appears. She is an outstanding writer, theater director and actress who gave a Lynchian touch to the video with her diabolical simplicity. And Eugenia Kolodziej is also here. She is the song’s real-life muse, and here she plays the muse who brings the couple together.”

La Conquista Del Espacio comprises nine original songs. After his live premiere of the album in Rosario, Fito will launch a tour of Europe, USA and Latin America.
