IR SAIS se une al elenco de SONY MUSIC LATIN
Su éxito “Dream Girl” es certificado 6X platino por la RIAA
MIAMI (4 de noviembre de 2021) – Luego de superar mil millones de reproducciones digitales y provocar revuelo en las redes sociales, el multilingüe cantante, compositor y multi-instrumentista caribeño Ir Sais se une al elenco de Sony Music Latin.
Respecto a esta firma, Alex Gallardo, presidente de Sony Music US Latin afirma que “Ir es el tipo de artista que surge una vez en cada generación. Es un talento único que ejecuta varios instrumentos con destreza. Además, posee carisma de estrella y una voz extraordinaria. Ha llamado la atención de todo el mundo. Mientras tanto, Ir comentó, “Recuerdo cuando tenía 11 años, produciendo mi primer demo con dos teléfonos analógicos de Nokia, usando uno para grabar y el otro para escuchar las reproducciones. Ese fue el inicio de mi camino hacia producir y cantar canciones de mi autoría, dirigir mis propios videos y distribuir todo online por mi cuenta para compartir mi cultura y mi música con el mundo. Yo sabía que por cantar en mi lengua materna que es papiamentu, el camino hacia la difusión mundial de mis creaciones sería difícil. Se volvió un poco más fácil cuando me asocié con mi representante artístico, Veikko Fuhrmann, quien me abrió puertas para trabajar con socios quienes resultaron claves en el éxito de ‘Dream Girl’. Entre ellos, Alex Gallardo, Presidente de Sony Music Latin; y Alejandro Reglero, Vicepresidente de Artistas y Repertorio, quienes me dieron una oportunidad con ‘Dream Girl’. Ellos entendieron mi deseo de rescatar mi cultura y mi idioma a través de la música, además de demostrar a los niños de mi isla y de todas las naciones pequeñas, que puedes lograr todo si trabajas duro y crees en ti mismo”.
Ir agregó que, “Venir de Bonaire, una pequeña isla del Caribe, cantar en mi lengua nativa que es el papiamentu, y firmar con una compañía discográfica multinacional como Sony Music Latin me brinda la oportunidad de contar con un equipo que trabaja al nivel más alto de la industria. Ir Sais lanzó este año su tema “Midnight Boom” junto al grupo colombiano dos veces ganador del Latin GRAMMY® ChocQuibTown y el artista británico Afro B. Este tema fusiona letra en español, inglés y papiamento, el lenguaje de Bonaire, isla natal de Ir. El primer éxito internacional de Ir Sais, “Dream Girl” (2018), y su remix de 2019 con Rauw Alejandro, cuentan con más de 293 millones de vistas en total. El remix también alcanzó el #1 en Spotify en los países sudamericanos de Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, así como en los seis países hispanoparlantes de América Central. Cruzando nuevos mercados, también logró colocarse en el top 40 en Suiza, Canadá, Portugal y Rumania, y obtuvo la certificación de Triple Platino en Estados Unidos. Acerca de Ir Sais:
Ir Sais es el nombre artístico de Irgwin Placido Sluis, quien nació en la isla de Bonaire que forma parte de las Antillas Neerlandesas. Su padre falleció cuando Irgwin apenas tenía un año. A los 11 años, empezó a tocar batería con latas de aluminio. Con una formación musical íntegramente autodidacta, Ir Sais ahora domina muchos instrumentos al igual que la producción. Después de probar el éxito con varias bandas populares de Bonaire, se fue a radicar en Holanda en el 2008, emprendiendo una exitosa carrera en solitario donde mezcla el pop con el ritmo caribeño de zouk. En el 2018, su canción “Dream Girl” fue descubierta por el remixer francés Djly Prod, quien la compartió con sus seguidores, ayudándole a que se volviera viral en conjunto con el #DreamGirlChallenge que dio aún más impulso no solamente a la canción sino también a la plataforma TikTok que en ese entonces era relativamente desconocida. Ir Sais grabó esta canción y mucho de su material en el idioma papiamentu, el lenguaje de Bonaire que tiene raíces en el portugués, el español, y el holandés al igual que idiomas africanos.

MIAMI (November 4, 2021) – After drumming up nearly one billion total streams and taking over social media, multilingual Caribbean singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ir Sais has signed to Sony Music Latin.
Regarding the signing, Alex Gallardo, President of Sony Music Latin said “Ir is a once-in-a-generation artist. He’s a rare talent with proficiency across instruments, raw star power, and an incredible voice. He already got the whole world to notice him. Now, we’re very excited to join forces as he ascends to the top of Latin music and culture.”
Meanwhile, Ir expressed, “I remember when I was 11 years old creating my first self-produced demo with two analog Nokia phones recording with one and using the other one as playback machine. That was the beginning of my journey producing, writing and singing my own songs, directing my own videos and using online self-distribution to present my culture and music to the world. Singing in my mother tongue Papiamentu, I knew the road to having the world hear my creations would be hard. It got a little easier when I started working with my manager, Veikko Fuhrmann, who opened the doors to key partners for the success of ‘Dream Girl.’ One of them was Sony Music Latin and its President, Alex Gallardo and VP of A&R, Alejandro Reglero who took a shot at working ‘Dream Girl.’ They understood my desire to preserve my culture and language through music and show the children from my island and all small countries, that you can do you anything if you work hard and believe in yourself.”
He added, “Coming from Bonaire, a tiny Island in the Caribbean, singing in my native language of Papiamentu and signing with a global record label such as Sony Music Latin gives me the chance to have a team that works at the highest level in the music business. He unveiled earlier this year another hit entitled “Midnight Boom” with two-time Latin GRAMMY®-winning Colombian group ChocQuibTown and British artist Afro B. Ir Sais earned a global smash with the 2018 hit “Dream Girl” and its 2019 remix with Rauw Alejandro, which boast over 293 million views in sum. About Ir Sais:
Ir Sais is the artistic moniker of Irgwin Placido Sluis, born on the Caribbean island of Bonaire in the Netherlands Antilles. His father died when Irgwin was just 1 year old. At 11, he began playing drums on tin cans. Completely self-taught, Ir Sais now masters several instruments as well as the production side. After getting his first taste of success with local Bonaire bands, he moved to the Netherlands in 2008, launching a solo career with original material that fuses pop with the Caribbean zouk rhythm.
