MIAMI (2 de noviembre, 2018) – La agrupación colombiana Monsieur Periné estrena el videoclip de “Veneno”, el segundo sencillo de su álbum Encanto Tropical y va camino a los Latin GRAMMYs® con el pie derecho con tres grandes nominaciones.
“Veneno” es una canción en la que confluyen el swing y el afrobeat, que relata el estado en que queda una persona al salir de una relación tóxica y con el corazón roto. Es un “Veneno” que hace alusión al miedo de acercarse nuevamente a una persona y en la duda de no arriesgarse a comenzar de nuevo.
“El veneno es el miedo de amar, de tomar decisiones importantes y trascendentes y que no has sabido soltar. Entonces muchas veces al conocer personas con las que haces click mientras todavía estas intoxicado puedes trasmitirle ese veneno. A todos nos ha sucedido, es una condición que traen las rupturas cuando quieres cerrar un capítulo que ha sido tóxico para tu vida” afirma Catalina García.
“Veneno” fue escrita por Catalina García y Santiago Prieto en compañía de la cantautora mexicana Julieta Venegas y producida por el reconocido Eduardo Cabra “Visitante”. Catalina García, vocalista de Monsiuer Periné relata la experiencia de haber compuesto esta canción: “Julieta fue muy generosa y quiso abrirnos la puerta de su estudio y permitirnos compartir ese momento íntimo y genuino que es hacer una canción. En el momento de crear junto a alguien, hay mucho de cada uno, así que es un momento que atesoramos y que llevamos en nuestra historia con mucho cariño”.
El videoclip fue grabado entre Bogotá, Cali, Medellín y Mompox en varios de los shows que realizó la agrupación y refleja el cariño y la reciprocidad del público colombiano en cada uno de ellos. Es un abrebocas para mostrarle al mundo de lo poderosos que son los conciertos de Monsieur Periné y de la fuerza, carisma y talento que tienen como banda.
Sin duda alguna, este ha sido un gran año para Monsieur Periné, pues a tan solo 6 meses del estreno del álbumEncanto Tropical, lograron tres nominaciones a los Latin GRAMMYs® en tres de las categorías más importantes de la academia: “Grabación del año”, “Álbum del año” y “Canción del año” con “Bailar Contigo”. Además, han llevado su energético show en vivo a mas de 26 ciudades por más de 8 países, consolidándose como una de las agrupaciones mas importantes y talentosas de Latinoamérica. “Recibimos con mucha alegría estas nominaciones pues son de las más importantes de todos los premios. Nos honra muchísimo que nuestra música tenga esta acogida por parte de la Academia y solo con el hecho de estar nominados nos sentimos ganadores. Nos quedan muchas ganas de seguir tocando y haciendo música. Queremos llevar nuestro Encanto Tropical a la mayor cantidad de lugares del planeta que sea posible, mientras vamos acumulando experiencias para componer un nuevo álbum”, afirma Santiago Prieto.
La banda se prepara para la premiación más importante de la música Latina que se llevará a cabo el 15 de Noviembre y posteriormente seguirán su gira por México y España.

MIAMI (November 2, 2018) – The Colombian group Monsieur Periné debuts the music video of “Veneno”, the second single from its album Encanto Tropical, as it gets ready for the Latin GRAMMYs®, where it’s nominated in three marquee categories.
“Veneno” mixes swing and Afrobeat rhythms, and tells the story of a broken-hearted person who needs to leave a toxic relationship. The poison is a metaphor for the fear of getting close to the partner, and making the same mistake again.
As vocalist and co-writer Catalina García points out, “The poison is the fear of loving, of making important and transcendent decisions and of not knowing how to let go. Many times when you meet people with whom you click, during the honeymoon phase you can poison them. It’s happened to all of us. It’s something that looms large during a breakup when you want to end a toxic chapter of your life.”
“Veneno” is written by band members Catalina García and Santiago Prieto, along with the Mexican singer and songwriter Julieta Venegas, with production by Eduardo “Visitante” Cabra. Catalina has fond memories of the writing session: “Julieta was very generous and opened the doors of her studio to us, allowing us to share the very intimate and genuine act of making a song. When you work together, each contributor gives a lot of themselves, so it’s a moment that we treasure and will always value.”
The music video was filmed during the group’s recent performances in the Colombian cities of Bogotá, Cali, Medellín and Mompox, and reflects the outpouring of support that Monsieur Periné receives from its fans. It’s an impressive calling card for music lovers who haven’t yet had the chance to witness the group’s mesmerizing concerts in person.
This year has been the best of Monsieur Periné‘s career. Just six months after the release of its album Encanto Tropical, the group received three nominations in the upcoming 2018 Latin GRAMMYs® in the marquee categories of “Album of the Year”, “Record of the Year“ and “Song of the Year“, for first single “Bailar Contigo”. The group’s tour has become one of the year’s most talked-about, visiting 26 cities in eight countries.
Santiago Prieto is grateful for the recognition: “We’re overjoyed with these nominations on Latin music’s biggest night. We’re greatly honored that the Latin Recording Academy has embraced our music, and just being nominated feels like a win. We are very motivated to continue recording and performing. We want to take our Encanto Tropical as far and wide as possible, while being observant to everything we experience as we write material for our next album.”
After attending the Latin GRAMMY® ceremonies on November 15 in Las Vegas, Monsieur Periné will resume its tour with shows in Mexico and Spain.
