The Singer And Songwriter Portrays The Mirage That We Have Experienced During Quarantine

This Song Is To Be Included On Her Forthcoming Studio Album

MIAMI (June 1, 2020) – The eclectic Nathy Peluso once again makes a stylistic leap on her new single “Buenos Aires,” the city where she grew up. Previously, she had recorded in big-band jazz style on “Copa Glasé,” flexed her power as a woman in the music industry on “Business Woman,” and reinvented 21st-century pop on “No Se Perdona” featuring Rels B. Despite being recorded in late 2019, the mood of “Buenos Aires” presciently encapsulates the feelings of confinement that the world finds itself in during 2020. This song displays her ability for mixing her diverse musical influences and making them her own.

Nathy Peluso notes that “Buenos Aires” was inspired by her personal reflections: “It is a time for us to connect with what matters and I hope that this song opens a line of communication. One day I woke up with a very clear melody in my head. I immediately sang it into my phone’s recorder and a few days later I took it to the studio. The artistry of this song’s composition was a direct connection with musical currents that represent me.

This song also shows her songwriting maturity: “I had wanted to write in a personal way, playing with metaphors, daily life, simple things, and dreamlike imagery. In the studio (Barcelona) I didn’t feel like the lyrics were working, so that afternoon I got in a taxi and wrote what the final lyrics would end up being. They came naturally and with great emotion – every line serves a key purpose. I felt that the phrases represented a place to smile, to experience emotions, and to feel comfort. When I listened to my recording it reminded me of Buenos Aires. It implicitly filled me with the sensation of being there, with all the nostalgia that it brings and the sound that I associate with the city. That’s when I settled on the title.

When it came time mold her early version into the finished track that it is now, Nathy Peluso chose the legendary La Diosa Salvaje studios, built by the pioneering Argentine rocker Luis Alberto Spinetta (1950-2012). She was accompanied by several of Spinetta’s longtime musicians such as Javier Malosseti, Guillermo Arrom and Sergio Verdineli.

Nathy is very pleased with how the sessions turned out: “Recording this song at La Diosa was a lovely experience. We played it with so much love that it took on a life of its own. ‘Buenos Aires’ has an identity that represents the deepest parts of me.

Buenos Aires” is produced by the multiple GRAMMY® winner Rafa Arcaute, who is a frequent collaborator of Nathy Peluso.

The music video of “Buenos Aires” mixes childhood home videos with images recorded of her daily life during quarantine, and the trip that took her to Buenos Aires. It has a lo-fi look that complements the lyrical melancholy and the beautiful melodic expression of her vocals.
