El video dirigido por Residente en su país natal de Puerto Rico, se ha convertido # 1 en tendencia en los Estados Unidos y en todo el mundo en YouTube. Además, el sencillo figura a nivel mundial en las listas de varias plataformas digitales. Hoy, el video musical “RENÉ” tiene más de 32 millones de visualizaciones desde su lanzamiento el pasado 27 de febrero.
El video es el número 1 en YouTube en los Estados Unidos, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Perú, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, El Salvador y Uruguay.

Lanzado el 27 de febrero, “RENÉ” expuso una imagen profunda y transparente sin armadura para sus fanáticos. La canción ha roto barreras al ser un sencillo narrativo de más de siete minutos en una balada a piano realizada por un artista internacional latino urbano.
“Esta canción me ayudó a salir de un lugar en el que no quería estar”, compartió Residente. “Necesitaba regresar a mi ciudad natal y a mi casa para reconectarme con mis amigos. Necesitaba volver a ser yo, René. Ver la reacción de mis fanáticos, amigos personales y la industria, ha significado mucho para mí. Hacemos música para tocar a otros, pero no pensé que mi historia personal lo haría y estoy feliz de que podamos tener música para curar el dolor “.
El galardonado artista/director de videos musicales ganador de GRAMMY® y Latin GRAMMY® comentó que componer esta canción lo ayudó en un momento muy difícil de su vida hace unos años. Filmado en su país natal, Puerto Rico, en su ciudad Trujillo Alto, Residente desnuda su alma y nos presentamomentos de felicidad y tristeza con familiares, amigos, éxitos, triunfos y fracasos hasta el día de hoy. Al final del video, revela a su pequeño hijo, Milo. In addition, the single is listed globally on the charts of several digital platforms: #8 on iTunes, #53 on Apple Music and has entered the top 50 global list on Spotify at #43, since its release. Today, the music video, “RENÉ” has more than 34 million views on YouTube within three days of its release.

Released on February 27th, “RENÉ” exposed a deep and transparent visual without an armor for his fans. The track has broken barriers by being a narrative single for seven-plus minutes on a piano beat ballad from an international urban Latin artist. The single didn’t reflect the urban reggaeton beat that the world is use to from a global Latin artist like Residente in the urban music space. “RENÉ” has reached fans with a relatable and emotional touch.
“This song helped me get out of a place that I didn’t want to be in,” shared Residente. “I needed to go back to my hometown and house to reconnect with my friends. I needed to go back to being, me – Rene. To see the reaction of my fans, personal friends and the industry, has meant a lot to me. We make music to touch others but I didn’t think my personal story would and I’m happy we are able to have music to cure pain.”
The GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® award-winning artist/music video director continued to share that composing this song helped him at a very difficult time in his life a few years ago. Filmed in his native country of Puerto Rico, in his town Trujillo Alto, Residente manages to review his life in the music video sharing moments of happiness and sadness with family, friends and career leading fans to this present date. At the end of the video, he reveals his young son, Milo. Today, he is comfortable with who he is and lives a happy life with the people he loves, and the career that he’s had for more than 15 years.
Currently, Residente is currently working on his second solo album, which is set to be released this year. It’s not determined if this song will be part of the new project. Recently, Residente released his second single, “Pecador” from his second solo album. The single comes after the success of his energetic dembow/reggaeton, “Bellacoso” featuring Bad Bunny. “Pecador” was expressive narrative about a human confessing his sins and thoughts. Visually, Residente directed the music video featuring a concept of religion and the inner child, who has no boundaries with expression and opinions on the world’s corruption.
Further expanding his exploration of innovative musical and scientific parallels, Residente works with the neurology departments of Yale and the University of New York, where Resident teamed up with professors to study brain wave patterns in worms, insects, mice and even Bad Bunny when they were creating “Bellacoso.” Using electroencephalogram (EEG) tests, René tracking communicative rhythms that has eventually turned them into sounds for this new project. Through brain waves and frequencies, Residente connects in both a scientific and emotional environment, achieving collaborations that inspire the creation of music without barriers.
This next March 7th, Resident will be performing next to the Los Angeles Philharmonic in The Walt Disney Concert Hall.
