MIAMI (20 de agosto de 2020) – El 2020 es un año de festejos para recordar la carrera y la obra de Sandro.
Este pasado 11 de abril se cumplieron 50 años de su debut en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, siendo el primer artista latino en cantar en ese mítico lugar. Su recital, fue el primer espectáculo que se transmitió vía satélite en vivo y en directo al mundo y fue visto en 14 países por 250 millones de espectadores.
En esta fecha se cumplieron 50 años de su álbum “Muchacho”, que incluía la banda de sonido de la exitosa película del mismo nombre.
Ayer, 19 de agosto Roberto Sánchez, Sandro, el ídolo, el Gitano, ese torbellino que dejaba sin aliento a las mujeres, hubiera cumplido 75 años y sus miles de seguidores en todo el mundo lo siguen venerando a través de sus eternas canciones, que siguen intactas y que mantienen viva la llama.
Pero este año es diferente. Desde algún lugar sagrado, Sandro les envía un regalo a sus “nenas”, a sus fans, a sus incondicionales seguidores.
Se trata de “No te vayas todavía”, una canción escrita, tanto la música como la letra, por Roberto, que por algún motivo nunca llegó a grabar para incluir en alguno de sus discos.
Años más tarde de haberla compuesto, utilizó la misma melodía para otro tema (con letra totalmente distinta), que cantó en vivo en exclusiva para un show benéfico en Chile.
“No te vayas todavía” es el primer adelanto de un nuevo álbum, que incluirá versiones nunca antes escuchadas de canciones de Sandro y del cual pronto se sabrán más detalles.
Olga Garaventa de Sánchez autorizó a Sony Music a desarrollar este proceso de “rescate” para lograr, con este proyecto, el mejor resultado final.
¿Cómo se llegó a recuperar “No te vayas todavía”?
Sandro acostumbraba a grabar temas nuevos, básicos, en su home-studio de Banfield (Provincia de Buenos Aires). Esas pre-producciones luego se las enviaba en cassette a Rubén Aguilera (su productor y arreglador), para comenzar a trabajarlas.
A partir de esos cassettes, las voces grabadas fueron extraídas y restauradas por Nelson Pombal (productor e ingeniero de grabación de Palito Ortega y Charly Garcia), para luego grabar los instrumentos y hacer los arreglos que dan forma a esta nueva versión, con aquel sonido tan característico de la obra de Sandro, como por ejemplo el toque de la guitarra de Ricardo Lew, compañero del Astro en varias grabaciones antológicas.
Y así se logró rescatar este valioso material, que a partir de hoy está disponible en todas las plataformas digitales.

MIAMI (August 20, 2020) – This year, we commemorate the career and discography of the groundbreaking Argentine singer, composer and actor Sandro (1945-2010).
April 11 marked the 50th anniversary of his debut at Madison Square Garden as the first Latin artist to perform at the iconic venue. It was also the first concert that was televised around the world live via satellite, with over 250 million spectators in 14 countries.
Also in 1970, he released the soundtrack to the hit movie Muchacho, in which he played a starring role.
Born Roberto Sánchez and also known as “El Gitano” due to his Roma heritage, Sandro was a multifaceted talent and a heartthrob whose 75th birthday would be August 19, 2020.
His millions of fans continue playing his songs and keeping the flame alive by sharing his music with younger generations.
Now, from some sacred place, Sandro sends a gift to his fans, who he affectionately referred to as his “nenas” (babes).
Written and performed by Sandro, “No Te Vayas Todavía” (Don’t Go Just Yet), has never been officially released.
Years after writing it, he performed the song, same melody with completely different lyrics, exclusively for a benefit concert in Chile.
“No Te Vayas Todavía” is the first preview of his forthcoming album which will include never-before heard versions of his songs. More details will be announced soon.
Sandro’s widow Olga Garaventa de Sánchez authorized Sony Music to restore his recordings and release an album that meets the highest standards of modern sound quality and production.
The story of the restoration of “No Te Vayas Todavía” is fascinating.
Sandro recorded cassette demos in his home studio, located in Banfield, a suburb of Buenos Aires. He would then send them to his producer and arranger Rubén Aguilera.
Producer and engineer Nelson Pombal (Palito Ortega, Charly García) has taken the tapes, isolated the vocals, and restored them. He then directed the instrumentation and created a new version in keeping with Sandro’s trademark sound. The distinctive guitar work was provided by Ricardo Lew, who recorded with Sandro on several albums.
Fans will be very happy with the way this material has been curated and restored. “No Te Vayas Todavía” is available today from all digital-music outlets.
